How do I make sure I order the right sized prefab fireplace doors?
Look for a model number on a metal plate inside your firebox opening. Then measure the length, width, and recess depth of your firebox opening.
Should prefab fireplace doors be opened or closed while the fire is burning?
Open. Prefab bi-fold glass doors should stay open when there’s a fire burning. A prefab zero clearance firebox with closed doors could reach a temperature approaching 10,000 degrees and fires can eventually start at temps as low as 200 degrees and cause closed doors shatter. Tempered glass is not meant to withstand temperatures that high.

Yes, prefab fireplace doors come with screens. These screens can be either replacement mesh curtains that attach to a rod in your firebox or actual mesh doors that attach to the fireplace door frame and open like cabinet doors.
